UK based tournament operator Gfinity has announced that it is now making moves in the USA with the launch of the Gfinity FIFA 18 US Spring Cup, an official qualifier in the FIFA 18 Global Series.

There are places in the Global Series Playoffs on offer to the winner of both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 tournaments. The competition is entirely free to enter and exclusive to gamers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The live finals will be held on the weekend of 12th May 2018 with the venue to be announced ‘in due course’.

Brent Koning, FIFA Competitive Gaming Commissioner had this to say on the news: “We are excited to be welcoming the Gfinity Spring Cup into the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series.

“As we continue to engage millions of FIFA players in the community, and attract viewers from all around the world, this year will be truly special as we continue on the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018.”

Registration is open now and single elimination tournaments for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 start on Sunday 15th April and will run every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday until Sunday 29th April 2018. After this date, the eight players with the most G Points (which are earned by playing and winning matches) for each platform will be invited to the Gfinity FIFA 18 US Spring Cup Live Finals over the May 12th weekend. They’ll battle it out for a share of the $30,000 (£) prize pool, a place in the Global Series Playoffs and a chance to compete at the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018.

Neville Upton, CEO of Gfinity commented: “We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with EA SPORTS for our maiden event in the United States. The US has massively embraced both football and FIFA over the past few years and we hope to see the winners of the Gfinity Spring Cup go all the way at the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018.”

The Gfinity FIFA 18 US Spring Cup is an accredited official EA SPORTS™ FIFA 18 Global Series. This will culminate in The Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 in August 2018.

In January 2018 a total of 19 of the MLS’ 23 clubs committed to participating in a FIFA esports league. As such there is already some hype around the EA Sports title amongst fans of these clubs which include New York Red Bulls, Seattle Sounders, LA Galaxy and 16 more.

Esports Insider says: We’ve some official FIFA action on our turf in the UK this weekend with the Manchester FUT 18 Champions Cup, and there’s a packed out agenda for pro FIFA players (and would be pros) in the months leading up to August. Congratulations to Gfinity and we look forward to seeing which venue is chosen in the States. With the MLS’ commitment to FIFA esports we’re expecting one of the best stadiums…trip to Orlando anyone?

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
