Overwatch League is gearing up to conclude its inaugural season, and it has partnered with Spotify to create five playlists to commemorate the playoffs and Grand Finals.
Sharing the Party on the Payload playlist, Overwatch League consulted with numerous players from playoffs teams such as Philadelphia Fusion, Los Angeles Gladiators, and New York Excelsior among others.
As part of this partnership, four more playlists are set to be unveiled during the playoffs and the sold-out Grand Finals. These include: OWL Cool Down, Playoff Feels, OWL Around the World, and Overtime.
The Overwatch League playoffs kicked off on July 11th and will lead into the grand finals at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn. The finals will take place over July 27-28th, with the two remaining teams battling it out to be crowned the champions of the league’s very first season.
Blizzard recently entered a broadcast deal with Disney that will see the playoffs and Grand Finals aired on television. More specifically, the action can be found on ESPN, Disney XD, and ABC. Blizzard has big plans for the second season of its franchised league, opening up expansion spots to new organisations for between $30M-$60M (£22M-£44M) each.
Overwatch League is also partnered with T-Mobile, Twitch, Toyota, OMEN by HP, Intel, Sour Patch Kids.
Esports Insider says: Overwatch League has seemingly seen success with its first season – especially when you look at how much spots in the league are for Season 2 – so bringing in the likes of Spotify for a unique partnership is a good way to see the first season off for Blizzard.
