Planet Oasis park coming to Ohio featuring 30,000 sq ft esports arena

A massive entertainment park named Planet Oasis is coming to Columbus, Ohio and will feature a 30,000 sq ft esports arena thanks to efforts from Blue Horseshoe Ventures Ltd.

Developers for Planet Oasis revealed the $2bn (£1.5bn) park will cover 350 acres making it almost twice the size of Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Features of the park will include 15 to 20 major attractions like an indoor water park, skydiving, rock climbing, retail space, a conference centre and house multiple hotels, along with a 30,000 square foot esports arena.

Comparing the Planet Oasis arena in size, the Esports Arena in the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada is also 30,000 sq ft wheres the MLG Arena also in Columbus, Ohio is about have the size at 14,000 sq ft.

The promotional video also teases the arena will feature a Planet Oasis esports team “affiliated with a unique new esports league.”

Blue Horseshoe is working in conjunction with Peninsula Lifestyle Capital on co-development of the arena.

Jeffrey Schoonover, Principal of Peninsula Lifestyle said in a statement: “We are currently working with top esports organizations and market vendors and will bring that collaboration of resources to the Central Ohio market in a very meaningful way.”

Columbus, Ohio is a smart sport for Planet Oasis to chose for an esports arena like this, as the Call of Duty World League is also held at MLG’s Arena.

Construction is set to begin by the end of the year with the first phase of the park opening sometime in 2019 and 75% of the park completed by 2020.

Esports Insider says: Honestly what sounds better than an esports arena within an amusement park. Planet Oasis sounds like it has everything you would need from family fun and entertainment to a world-class esports arena to rival the rest. We’ll certainly be keeping our eyes on the events that come to Planet Oasis as it launches in the coming years.
