Golden Guardians is the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) franchise owned by NBA side Golden State Warriors.

Hunter Leigh, Head of GSW Esports discussed the deal: “As we continue to diversify the Golden Guardians’ portfolio, it is important for us to partner with brands that share the same values. As the first esports team to partner with Madrinas Coffee, we are looking forward to providing a healthier form of energy to both our LCS and Academy Team rosters.”

Becoming the official coffee of the Golden Guardians, Madrinas Coffee has entitlement space in the kitchen of the team’s headquarters, which has now been renamed as the ‘Recharge Room’. The coffee brand will be displayed on refrigerators in the headquarters, its LCS green room, and in team housing.

Alex Davis, Co-Founder of Madrinas Coffee also commented on the partnership: “The Golden Guardians organization, and the esports division of the Golden State Warriors as a whole, has shown a true commitment to excellence – both in and out of the game – in the world of esports, which was paramount in our decision to align Madrinas Coffee with an org. It was important for us to officially enter into the world of esports and develop a partnership with an organization that mirrored the beliefs and values of Madrinas Coffee.”

Just in January, Plantronic’s headset brand RIG Gaming was announced as Golden Guardians’ first jersey sponsor. The franchise has also partnered with sports and entertainment brand Fathead to produce stickers and wall decals.

Esports Insider says: It’s interesting to see a partnership between a team and a coffee brand. While we don’t know the exact details of the deal – including its length or financial terms – this seems like a nice grab for Golden Guardians’ players. There appears to be some opportunities to reward fans of GGS too should the two parties wish to do so.
