UK-based events company HYPD has partnered with shopping centre intu Lakeside to bring its gaming arena to Essex, England.
HYPD Arena – a “gaming experience” which includes a retro arcade, a gaming arena, a virtual reality zone, and an esports tournament – will be located in intu Lakeside from July 20th to August 31st.
Chris Haydon; COO of HYPD commented on the partnership: “We are extremely excited to bring HYPD Arena to intu Lakeside this summer. With such a dynamic range of gameplay options for customers to enjoy, we believe this will be a huge hit and we cannot wait to share this amazing experience with our players. I’d very much like to thank intu Lakeside for their continued support of this initiative. Together we can deliver a truly unforgettable attraction.”
HYPD Legends, the company’s tournament series, will offer competitions on both FIFA 19 and Apex Legends. The event’s virtual reality experience will involve titles such as Richie’s Plank Experience and Beat Saber, and it will also offer an opportunity for racing simulator fans with Project Cars 2.
Howard Oldstein, Regional Centre Director at intu Lakeside added: “We are extremely excited to have HYPD with us this summer. This is an amazing opportunity for our customers as the HYPD Arena will help us to create a unique and exciting experience for all gamers across Essex. Along with our eternal leisure development taking shape, it’s really going to be an epic summer at intu Lakeside.”
Esports Insider says: Allowing the general public to have a competitive experience on a variety of games only seems like a positive thing. The HYPD Arena has a variety of experiences and hopefully it sees solid interest throughout its stint in the centre so it can continue to deliver esports to the unaware.
