Audio equipment provider Astro Gaming and Gears of War esports have extended their partnership for the 2019-2020 season.
Astro Gaming will be the official audio partner of Gears of War tournaments through 2020, providing equipment, contributing to prize pools, and launching its own league.
This partnership dates back to September 2018, kicking off with the Gears Pro Circuit San Diego Open and continuing through the full 2018-2019 season.
Dana Sissons, Director of Communications at The Coalition discussed the extension in a release: “Astro has been a great partner across previous seasons of Gears Esports and we’re delighted to build on that for Gears 5. Now, as well as having Astro’s top class audio equipment and expertise at our events, we’ll also benefit from that across all of our content series.”
The four Gears Major tournaments will use the newly-released Astro TR Main Stage audio system that will block out the noise to help the players focusing on the game. The partnership will also see Astro Gaming launching its own league alongside Gears 5 official Majors. Powered by Beyond Entertainment, it will feature a $20,000 prize pool.
Cole Lovelady, Head of Global Esports at Astro Gaming added: “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Microsoft, The Coalition and Gears of War. By offering the community a premium audio experience and creating exciting new ways to earn cash, aspiring athletes will be able to find new teammates and have a chance to make a career in Gears Esports.”
Esports Insider says: Astro Gaming has committed to developing the Gears of War esports scene for another year, marking a solid start for Gears 5 – a title that’s aiming to boost its status in the larger esports industry.
