The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Global Esports Federation (GEF) have joined forces to help develop and promote esports “across and throughout Asia.”
The collaboration will work to inspire millions of youth to “maximize the potential of esports” in the continent.

Sheikh Ahmad, President of Olympic Council of Asia, stated in a release: “The OCA looks forward to working with the Global Esports Federation in serving the youth of Asia. One of the big stories of our time is esports, and the OCA is pleased to join forces with the GEF to maximize the potential of esports, for good.”
The Olympic Council of Asia contains 45 national Olympic Committees, and thus is said to represent 4.6 billion people. This includes “at least” 700 million people between the ages of 15 and 24.

In recent months, Global Esports Federation has cemented agreements with the Commonwealth Games Federation, World Taekwondo, International Tennis Federation, Organización Deportiva Suramericana, and Dentsu – all with the aim of developing esports.
Chris Chan, President of Global Esports Federation, added: “In partnering with the OCA, driven by the visionary leadership of its President and Executive Board, we acknowledge the depth and breadth of progressive innovation in this dynamic, youthful continent. Together, we will convene a partnership focused on advancing forward-thinking and future-oriented initiatives in service to athletes, players, and youth.
“We are grateful to the OCA President and the Executive Board for their trust and confidence. We look forward to doing big things together.”
Esports Insider says: With Tencent backing the Global Esports Federation, this alliance will have little problem with starting conversations and educating on the value of esports as they work to bring the global community together.
