The guide is aimed at sports teams, leagues, and organisations with hopes of “navigating digital fandom.”

Available to download for free, Extra Innings opens by addressing traditional sports. It explains that “without you there would be no us” and that the firm dreams that “the era of sport we represent might one day be as celebrated as the stick and ball sports who came before us.”
The guide looks at professional athletes playing games on Twitch, explaining how they can properly appeal to the audience they amass, as well as the potential for crossover between traditional sports and esports.

In September last year, The Story Mob released its second guide – Beautiful Weirdos: Telling the Stories of Esports Heroes. It concentrated on the unique nature of the stars that esports is creating, delving into the diverse and relatable figures that are at the top of the industry.
Nicola Piggott, Founder and Co-CEO of The Story Mob, spoke on the guide’s purpose: “Along with so many of us in the industry, I’ve spent the majority of my career learning from traditional sports – what we can learn, adapt and evolve from ecosystems that were started centuries ago. With this guide, we’re looking to pay back even a small fraction of the knowledge that esports has benefited from over the years with a few practical tips for taking the game online.”
Esports Insider says: The Story Mob is great at amplifying the moves of those in esports, and with Extra Innings it sets it sights on those in traditional sports looking at esports as an opportunity. The guide is worth reading whether you’re in esports or not, providing solid insights and food for thought.
