Pluck GG launches esports academy with support from Team Singularity

Danish organisation Team Singularity has partnered with Swedish machine learning platform Pluck GG to coincide with the launch of ‘Pluck Esports Academy.’

As per a release, the academy will allow gamers to join daily classes, weekly events, and monthly tournaments that are league and division-specific. All students will be monitored, analysed, and taught by an AI-powered gaming coach.

Interested gamers can join the academy by selecting a specific game, platform (PC or console), and method (keyboard and mouse, controller, or touch). By joining the academy, players can graduate and, theoretically, be transferred to a recruiting esports organisation.

Erik Lydecker, Founder and CEO of Pluck GG, said in a release: “Pluck was founded on the vision of including all gamers and giving everyone a chance of becoming a professional esport athlete by basically expanding and giving a solid structure and methodology to the box of esports.

“We are super excited to partner with and launch the Pluck Esport Academy together with an amazing esport organization like Singularity and we are really looking forward to the first transfers of students from the academy to a professional esport organization this summer.”

As a student, players can earn monthly grants based on overall performance. Each student is categorised with “surgical precision” in four different tiers and 12 groups based on “gaming performance and execution,” with four classes and 12 segments based on gaming quality, and four leagues and 12 divisions based on “performance, execution, and quality over time.”

Pluck GG is also introducing Pluck Polestar, a tool that will allow esports organisations the opportunity to scout and recruit top students. Lydecker revealed that Pluck is currently in contact with over 50 esports teams and will be “onboarding them successfully during Q4 2020.”

Atle S. Stehouwer, Founder and CEO of Team Singularity, added: “In Team Singularity we always keep our eyes open for digital/tech solutions and platforms that can help us improve our infrastructure and help our visions come true. When I was introduced to Pluck GG I instantly saw a great potential for Singularity to revise our academy structure and utilize machine learning algorithms to help us in our talent scouting processes.

“Singularity will be using Pluck Polestar as our primary scouting grounds for signing academy players and giving unknown talents a chance to get into the esports scene. I’m very much looking forward to the global launch of Pluck GG and we will be doing monthly activations online on the platform to find the talents of tomorrow.”

Esports Insider says: This could be a fantastic development to help introduce unknown talent to esports organisations hoping to scout new players. Academy-like tutorials have been introduced to players hoping to advance in the industry, but not many – if any – have introduced scouting and recruiting opportunities.
