theScore Esports named Demacia Championship English broadcast partner

Toronto-based media company theScore Esports has been named the exclusive English language broadcast partner for the Legends of Leagues Pro League’s (LPL) Demacia Championship, an annual, 24-team Chinese League of Legends event.

theScore Esports will stream the Demacia Championship tournament, which runs from December 20th – 27th, on the company’s YouTube and Twitch channels from its Toronto headquarters. The event is the media firm’s initial foray into live event broadcasting.

The Demacia Championship is hosted by TJ Sports, a joint venture between Tencent & Riot Games, which operates and manages the League of Legends’ Chinese outfit, LPL. The competition is the first professional event of the LPL’s competitive year.

theScore Vice President of Content and Marketing Aubrey Levy commented on the broadcast rights deal in a release:  “We’re thrilled that TJ Sports identified theScore as the ideal partner to produce and distribute the Demacia Championship’s English language broadcast to fans worldwide.
