By joining forces with BIG, the partnership marks die Bayerische’s entrance into the esports industry. The insurance company has been the main shirt sponsor of German football club TSV 1860 Munich since 2016.

Martin Gräfer, Member of die Bayerische’s management board, spoke on the partnership in a release: “We have been watching the triumphant advancement of esports in Europe with great enthusiasm for some time now. With our commitment to Berlin International Gaming, we are now taking the first step in this young, dynamic and rapidly growing environment.

“It gives us immense pleasure to do this side by side with one of the absolute big players of German esports clubs. We can’t wait to go on a title hunt together with BIG and the BIG Family.”

With this deal, die Bayerische becomes the eighth partner of the Berlin-based organisation, joining the likes of Blocksport, computer peripherals manufacturer CORSAIR, and gaming chair manufacturer Backforce.

Daniel Finkler, BIG’s CEO, also commented: “As a club, we are very honoured to be able to accompany such a traditional insurance company as a partner in esports for the first time. The partnership is another milestone in our history and shows the relevance of the German esports market. We are looking forward to a long-term cooperation.”

Esports Insider says: For die Bayerische, joining forces with one of Germany’s biggest esports organisations is a statement of intent from the insurance company. The deal is also a positive for BIG, which has acquired another non-endemic brand into its roster of partners. Depending on the success of the deal, this could be the beginning of die Bayerische’s involvement in the esports industry.
