North American esports organisation TSM FTX has appointed streetwear veteran Erik Marino to the role of Vice President of Apparel.
Marino joins TSM FTX from gaming organisation FaZe Clan, where he served as Executive Creative Director. In his executive role at the newly minted TSM FTX, Marino will be responsible for overseeing the creative development of all of the organisation’s branded apparel.
Marino brings over two decades of experience developing high-profile brands in the streetwear space, including collaborations with Wu-Tang Clan and as the founder of international music lifestyle brand, Rocksmith. He also served as executive producer on a number of co-branded pieces of content at Rocksmith, including music videos with Kendrick Lamar, Future, 2 Chainz, and others.
In his tenure at FaZe, he was responsible for building out the foundation and infrastructure for the organisation’s merchandise apparel division.
Walter Wang, TSM Head of Operations, commented on the hire in a release: “TSM FTX fans have made it known — loud and clear — that they want an improved experience when supporting our organisation, and that means more premium apparel and better merch.”
“With Erik onboard leading the division, we are exceedingly confident that we will be able to deliver what our fans are asking for — and so much more. I can’t wait to show the world some of the projects Erik has been working on!”
Marino added: “It is an honour to join a premier esports org like TSM FTX, who I admire not only for their winning heritage but also for being pioneers in the business of gaming and esports on a global level.”
Esports Insider says: Erik Marino joins TSM FTX at a critical time of growth and brand awareness, fueled by the org’s $210 million naming rights deal w/ FTX. The organisation needs guidance as it embraces the growing link between esports and apparel.
