Sean Zhang, CEO of Talon Esports, commented: “As a proud Australian I am happy to be welcoming two iconic superstars of the Australian sporting scene to the Talon family. Having given the world numerous winning moments across the years for Australia we will look to channel their competitive energy across the organisation to continue to build together towards developing one of the largest esports franchises globally.”

According to the release, the group will look to develop performance frameworks for its players and coaches. Moreover, the trio will support Talon Esports’s broader business in securing commercial deals, strategic partnerships and investment opportunities.

Financial details regarding the trio’s investment stake has not been revealed.

ONE Sports CEO, Bruce Kaider, commented: “The emergence of esports in the world of sport and entertainment is something we have been monitoring closely over the past few years. As a company we are always looking to grow through innovative and strategic partnerships with like-minded people and organisations.

“Having Stephanie and Matthew alongside me made perfect sense through their mix of experience in sport and business and their high-performance mindset.”

The announcement follows on from a string of commercial partnerships by the Southeast Asian organisation. So far in 2021, Talon Esports has secured agreements with the likes of Yieldly, Recaro Gaming, and KFC Thailand, among others.

Esports Insider says: Talon Esports’s new acquisitions should bolster the organisation’s brand internationally, particularly in Australia. Having ONE Sports on board, alongside two well-known athletes, should provide Talon with a mixture of player performance knowledge and commercial expertise.
