The online-only event will be exclusively streamed on VeraEsports and GalAxie Cup’s website using the VeraPlayer tool.

Similarly to VeraPlayer, VeraEsports is powered by esports-focused video blockchain protocol Verasity. According to the release, the GalAxie Cup will trial Verasity’s Proof of View (PoV) technology, which looks to prevent fraudulent viewership for all types of streamed video content.

The GalAxie Cup 2022 is an Axie Infinity esports tournament that is part of the title’s competitive gaming roadmap for 2022. The event is set to commence in March 2022 with open qualifiers.

A total of 450 AXS (~£22,000) is expected to be distributed as a prize pool across the tournament stages. Each stage will feature an open qualifier and playoffs with a 150 AXS prize pool.

The collaboration will also see Verasity continue to leverage and integrate its blockchain technology during the official tournament.

RJ Mark, Founder at VeraEsports, commented: We are delighted to embark on another exciting tournament with our friends at Axie Infinity, easily the most exciting and vibrant Esports community in the entire blockchain space. During the GalAxie Cup 2022, we can feed real-time third-party data into Verasity’s Proof of View system to ensure views are verified.”

The tournament will feature Verasity’s Watch and Earn technology, which rewards users for watching the event if they have a VeraWallet account. Viewers are also expected to earn rewards that will be made available through the VeraEsports Rewards Store.
