Esports betting odds provider Oddin.gg has appointed Mark Balch, formerly of Bayes Esports, as its Director of Strategy.

In his new role, Balch will mostly focus on the company’s data partnerships, integrity solutions and product development as the odds provider looks to expand its product suite.

Prior to joining Oddin.gg, Balch served as VP of Product at Bayes Esports where he worked on advancing data and betting technology for the esports industry. Prior to leaving Bayes Esports earlier this year, he had been with the organisation for over three years, starting out as its Head of Product and Partnerships in 2019.

Moreover, Balch previously held the role of Head of Esports at sports tech company Sportsradar AG where he was tasked with managing all of its esports aspects. Specifically, he oversaw the company’s esports product management, partnerships, strategy, sales and more.

The newly appointed Director of Strategy commented: “I am very proud to be joining the Oddin.gg team. It is remarkable how much they have achieved and I am honoured to be asked to help shape the future of the company on the topics that are close to me. Oddin.gg is positioned very well to become the standout leader and the Number 1 choice for those serious about esports betting products.”

Overall, Balch will bring nearly 20 years of betting experience and 7 years of running esports betting services and negotiating data partnerships.

The news of Balch’s appointment comes as Oddin.gg raised $4.5m (£3.7m) through its Series A funding round. Balch’s appointment seems to be in line with the company’s goal to use its capital to not only strengthen its team, but also improve its portfolio of services.

All in all, Oddin.gg has had a fruitful year, securing deals with the likes of Betway, LOOT.BET and Duelbits, among others. In April, the company also announced the acquisition of esports betting marketing agency Thousand Lives.
