The second edition of esports and gaming conference Playcon will take place between November 3rd and 6th in Ta’ Qali, Malta.
The conference will consist of an expo section where more than 30 local and international companies will exhibit their products and services. There will also be a game development and esports summit, which will gather industry stakeholders. Moreover, various esports tournaments and competitions will also take place during the event.
This is the second edition of Playcon. The first event took place in 2019, however, the following two editions were canceled due to the pandemic. The event is organised by GMR (Malta’s oldest esports company) and supported by Gaming Malta and the Maltese Ministry for the Economy, European Funds, and Lands. Specifically, Playcon will take place at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali.
The expo area will feature known local and international gaming and esports companies such as ESL Gaming, Ubisoft, Keywords Studios and Exient. All of which will present their products and games. Visitors will, of course, be able to play games and take part in special events during Playcon. Primary and secondary school students will also be able to attend workshops on the topics of esports and gaming, including ones that advise children on creating a proper balance between gaming and real life.
Lastly, esports competitions across a number of different titles will take place during the event, with Tekken, Fortnite, and simulation racing tournaments already announced. The Tekken tournament will also see known international players compete, including JeonDding, Anakin, and Arslan.
GMR commented on the newest edition of the event: “Playcon will be spread over 5000 square meters of interactive and educational space where experts in the sector will showcase the best that Malta has to offer. Video games, game development, and esports are among the fastest growing economic sectors worldwide.
“Playcon will be an opportunity for many students to get to know more about the opportunities and careers available in these sectors of the digital economy.”
