Marco Mereu, the Co-founder of gaming and lifestyle brand XSET, has officially announced that he departed the organisation in August of this year.

XSET was founded a little over two years ago by Marco Mereu alongside fellow former FaZe Clan executive members Greg Selkoe, Wil Eddins, Clinton Sparks. The organisation quickly grew to become a well known brand within the North American ecosystem, with a total of almost 800,000 followers across its social media platforms accross Twitter, TikTok and Instagram.

On top of being one of the Co-founders, Mereu also served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) during his two-year tenure with the organisation. His role included overseeing day-to-day corporate operations as well as managing the company and its 10 competitive teams in terms of finance and budgeting but also when it came to general leadership.

Mereu’s departure seemingly occurred around the same time XSET unveiled changes to its leadership structure. This saw the organisation appoint Co-owner Erin Ashley Simon as its new Chief Culture Officer (CCO) and Steve Birkhold as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO), replacing Mereu.

Prior to the restructuring XSET also raised $15m (~£12.5m) in funding. At the time, the organisation said the funding will be invested in new executive talent as well as its marketing and content creation departments.

He also had a message to the fans: “Thank you for your support from day one and always repping the set. I appreciate the support for our organisation, players and teams and hope you will continue to support XSET in their future endeavours.”
