The Global Esports Federation (GEF) has announced a partnership with VOV Gaming, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian esports and gaming company Savvy Games Group.
As part of the deal, GEF will become VOV Gaming’s Global Supporter. The partnership will focus on three key areas: the ‘Community Gaming Council’, venue-to-venue competitions, and health and wellness initiatives.
In particular, VOV Gaming will lead the launch of the Community Gaming Council at GEF through a campaign called CONNECT powered by VOV. Through this initiative, grassroots venues will have a platform to engage and help shape the international community agenda. The GEF’s core athletes, players and community commission will also hold active roles in the promotion of the campaign.
Moreover, the GEF and VOV will work together to organise international venue-to-venue competitions to further strengthen the ecosystem. At the same time, both parties will also seek to identify and develop global esports talent.
With a focus on health and wellness, both entities will launch a series of activations to level up the Performance+ wellness initiative — which is supported by footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. In addition, the health and wellness activations will be geared to deliver on the key objectives of the GEF’s participation in UNESCO’s Fit for Life flagship.
Jerry Gamez, CEO of VOV Gaming, commented on the partnership: “VOV is proud to join the Global Esports Federation to harness the endless possibilities and realize the potential of gamers and esports athletes worldwide by offering global platforms for them to compete, learn, and socialize.
“We will work together with the GEF and its Member Federations to bring physical esports and events to communities including at VOV’s unique venues.”
Earlier this year, VOV also joined forces with English football club Newcastle United to help the club build its esports presence within the Saudi Arabian market.
