Esports media platform ONE Esports, the esports venture of sports media company ONE Championship, has extended its partnership with Korean League of Legends series LCK.
ONE Esports has been LCK’s ‘Official Media Partner’ for the last two years and will create and distribute content from the Korean league over the 2023 season. The Spring regular season began on January 18th and will conclude on March 19th.
ONE Esports will manage the production of localised language coverage for the LCK, including short-form videos and written coverage. All content will be distributed throughout its owned channels, including its website.
ONE Esports is one of South Asia’s largest esports media companies and owns a global esports site that features reviews, news and guides for esports pros and fans. According to research conducted by ONE Esports, the Southeast Asian gaming and esports market could be 225m strong.
Viewership of its leagues has allowed the brand to culminate sponsorships with the likes of Mcdonald’s, a long-term partnership with Samsung for the brand’s mobile app, and international banking and financial services company HSBC. The bank has partnered with ONE on a number of community tournaments and one large event in 2022.
LCK’s opening weekend secured a peak viewership of 528,100 viewers across several different platforms following an all-Korean world final last year. The tournament arrives in 2023 with a tweaked format which will see the six best teams from the group stage face off in playoffs with a new loser’s bracket.
This year’s competition will feature a rebranded Dplus KIA team led by League of Legends veteran Deft competing against LCK staples T1.
