UK gaming and esports bar franchise Platform has officially opened its second venue in Canary Wharf, London.
The new bar is part of Platform’s larger expansion plans that include the opening of another venue in 2023, alongside other sites scheduled for 2024 and 2025.
Platform celebrated the venue’s launch with a launch party on March 24th. According to a release, Platform Canary Wharf accommodates around 250 guests. The two-floor 4,700 square foot venue features 24 console gaming booths as well as a bar. Platform first announced its expansion into Canary Wharf in February 2023.
Platform’s other London venue, situated on Shoreditch, hosts a variety of esports-related events. This includes the likes of host parties, grassroots esports tournaments and even Esports Insider’s 2022 Hall of Fame ceremony.
In the initial announcement about the bar’s launch, Stuart Fyfe, Managing Director for Retail Leasing at Canary Wharf Group, commented: “Platform is a hugely exciting addition to Canary Wharf, expanding on our already strong competitive socialising offering including Fairgame, Electric Shuffle and Capital Karts.
“Situated next to the bustling, newly opened Elizabeth line, I’m very much looking forward to what this unique gaming experience will add to the area.”
Grassroots esports-focused venues and bars have grown in prominence over the last couple of years as the country continues to embrace esports. London is home to several other esports- and gaming-focused bars, including the likes of Four Quarters, New Meta Gaming Arena and Loading Bar.
Alongside Platform’s Canary Wharf bar, a new venue called Level Tap is set to open in the shopping complex Liverpool ONE.
