Fast food sandwich chain Subway and British esports organisation Guild Esports have announced the latest edition of its Subway Future Talent Series, an esports initiative aimed at students and young players.

The series offers students from the London area the chance to experience esports in Guild’s headquarters. Some of the initiative’s focuses include workshops, training and education.

Subway and Guild Esports first partnered in March 2021 after announcing a two-year deal which was described as a ‘multi-million-pound’ collaboration at the time. In the two years, the both brands have worked together on activations, branding and education initiatives, with Subway closely connected to the Guild Academy to support new esports talent. Subway and Guild first launched the Subway Future Talent Series late last year.

The Future Talent Series will be focused on young players from the London area. Guild noted that more than 1,000 students will be ‘positively impacted’ by the initiative by the end of this year. This spring will see the first 200 students join the programme over two weekends — first in late March and again in mid-April.

Apart from learning the mechanical aspects of esports games and the inner workings of an esports organisation, the students will also attend sessions that focus on nutrition and health in esports. All sessions will be done by Guild’s esports coaches and Subway’s nutritionists.

The two companies noted that there are two major benefits for students: one is the understanding of nutrition in gaming and esports, and the other is the opportunity to climb through the ranks and make first steps in professional esports.

Mays Elansari, Regional Brand Marketing Director at Subway, EMEA, commented: “The Subway Future Talent Series events are put on to engage with young people and give them the opportunity through the Guild Academy, to not only learn about the importance of nutrition in gaming and esports, but to potentially uncover the next great esports star.

“We are excited to further explore this and are looking to broaden the catchment area to bring these workshops to even more students and local communities.”
