Fast food chain Mcdonald’s has partnered with the Collegiate Sports Management Group for the upcoming Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup, called ‘May Madness’.

McDonald’s will host promotions and giveaways during the competition. Moreover, there will also be special offers integrated into the McDonald’s app.

McDonald’s will send a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) team to the cup and sponsor the jerseys of the players.

The Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup is the largest collegiate esports festival in the United States. The cup will take place at the Esports Stadium Arlington in Texas and feature 64 teams from multiple collegiate conferences and associations. The teams will compete in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Rocket League and VALORANT.

Along with the esports competitions, the festival will also feature a career fair, partner activations, esports celebrity meet, and greets, as well as a technology expo. In addition, ESPORTSU will also host the first-ever College Esports Awards Show that will credit the outstanding individuals, brands and institutions in college esports.

ESPORTSU is a new brand created in 2022 by CSMG to host esports events and activations.

Last year, the CECC was held at the Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Teams from multiple conferences competed, with Bay State College, Illinois State University, Northwood University and San Jose State University ending the tournaments as winners in Super Smash Bros, Overwatch, Rocket League and VALORANT, respectively.

Tara O’Reilly Gibson, North Texas McDonald’s Owner/Operator, commented on the partnership:” McDonald’s of North Texas is ready to feed hungry gamers and fans during the CECC tournament. When tournament play keeps you from dining out on your favourites, you can expedite an order through the McDonald’s App or let McDelivery bring your favourites to you.”
