RESPAWN Products President, CEO, and founding member Preston Gardner has acquired the gaming furniture brand from furniture manufacturer and distributor OFM.
According to a release, the acquisition allows RESPAWN’s team to ‘fully dedicate’ its efforts to rebuild and support the gaming community behind the brand. Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed by either party.
Founded in 2017, RESPAWN has been the dedicated gaming furniture manufacturer for a number of organisations and stakeholders in the esports scene. Under OFM’s ownership, the company has previously struck partnerships with the likes of DarkZero Esports and Misfits Gaming Group, among others.
In 2022, the brand also became the official gaming chair partner of FaZe Clan, launching a range of co-branded chairs available in various colour schemes. Moving forwards, RESPAWN will concentrate on providing lines of gaming products to cater to a wide array of customers, ranging from esports competitors and content creators to hobby players. This year, however, RESPAWN has not announced any new partnerships with an esports organisation.
The new owner of the gaming furniture brand, Preston Gardner, has extensive knowledge in the field. Alongside being a founding member of RESPAWN, he is also the owner of furniture manufacturer Palmer Hamilton. Prior to founding Palmer Hamilton, Gardner was at OFM’s parent company HNI Corporation as the company’s Manager of Emerging Channels in 2017 and 2018.
Gardner commented on the acquisition: “We are extremely excited to be back at the helm with the RESPAWN brand. Our efforts will continue to focus on building the RESPAWN community and supporting the industry by providing quality furnishing solutions.
“Our community can expect to see the brand return and enthusiastically expand both our community engagement and our product offering beyond the breadth it once was. We have maintained our roots in furniture expertise and will take that experience even further to provide design services delivering comprehensively designed spaces.”
