Multinational esports organisation Galaxy Racer (GXR) has announced Rocket League content creator Elyse ‘Herculyse’ Herrera has joined its HER Galaxy initiative as an official ambassador.

In addition, she is a Rocket League caster and was nominated for the gameHERs Awards Shoutcaster of the Year in 2022. As an ambassador for HER Galaxy, Herrera joins GXR’s efforts to promote positive change in esports. Prior to joining Evil Geniuses, Herrera was also a content creator for North American esports organisation Dignitas.

Founded in 2022, the HER Galaxy initiative centres around fostering grassroots opportunities for gamers from underrepresented genders in North America. In addition to organising tournaments, it offers educational and networking prospects for individuals seeking involvement in the broader gaming industry.

Recently, Galaxy Racer also launched the HER Galaxy Tournament Series, a multi-title esports series that aims to provide a place for gamers who identify as women to gain playing opportunities.

Herrera commented on her appointment: “We need more opportunities to showcase and promote women in gaming. HER Galaxy is truly making a difference in the space by bringing women and non-binary from all leagues and teams together to build a more inclusive community and lift one another up through networking, competition and friendship.

“I’m thrilled to join HER Galaxy’s mission and be a part of this effort to drive positive change in our sport. I’m also thankful to Evil Geniuses for their support – the more voices we have, championing this cause, the faster change will come.”

Moreover, the organisation announced that it will host a women-only Apex Legends tournament in collaboration with game developer and publisher Electronic Arts (EA).
