Development group DEEM Enterprises has announced a partnership with fantasy esports platform PlayerX to host an event in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The announcement signals the beginning of a ‘longer-term strategic partnership’ between DEEM and PlayerX developer World Champion Fantasy (WCF) with ‘many events’ to come.
According to a release, the first event will take place in January 2024 at the Boardwalk Hall and will be attended by a handful of NFL athletes.
The two-day contest will include mixed teams of esports professionals, amateur players and NFL athletes, including Marquise Brown, Kurt Benkert and JuJu Smith-Schuster, the latter of whom is an investor in World Champion Fantasy. Billed as a family-friendly event, attendees will see live entertainment, celebrity appearances, musical performances, and ‘immersive experiences from sponsors’.
The event will also be streamed live while both in-person and remote attendees can expect watch parties, as well as an integration between physical and virtual programming.
The partnership with DEEM is one of a number of collaborations that World Champion Fantasy — and specifically PlayerX — has established within the last year. A partnership with telecoms company Verizon was launched last October in order to ‘incorporate Verizon’s expertise and infrastructure into PlayerX’. Moreover, the company also teamed up with content delivery service Edgio.
Whilst PlayerX is a fantasy product, it is a non-gambling platform. As such, it it available for esports fans of all ages.
On the announcement, Mike Vela, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WCF commented: “Our game-changing technology in PlayerX will be the backbone of our first family-friendly esports event with DEEM. Perhaps what’s most exciting is sharing my passion for esports with so many people and families of all ages.
“PlayerX has the ability to unite people – from the amateur to the professional to the NFL athlete, all of whom share that same passion for playing esports. PlayerX balances everyone’s abilities by providing the right tools for a player to win or watch.”
