Launched in 2017, PUBG: Battlegrounds (PUBG) gained popularity within the battle royale genre following a sudden surge of community-driven competitions and leaderboards.
PUBG: Battlegrounds’ creators quickly realised that with the growing esports scene, embracing live data at an early stage would be beneficial for the ecosystem, enabling them to lay solid foundations for future innovation.
Streaming platform Twitch has updated its Community Guidelines to explicitly state that the promotion and sponsorship of skins gambling sites for the likes of CS:GO is prohibited.
The move further solidifies Twitch’s recent clampdown on gambling content, particularly unlicensed sites. Under the newly updated guidelines, Twitch has highlighted in an FAQ for its prohibited gambling content section that “promotion or sponsorship of skins gambling is prohibited under our policy.”
Bookmaker BetBoom and tournament organiser FISSURE have unveiled BetBoom Dacha, a $250,000 (~£196,000) Dota 2 LAN tournament.
The event officially commences on August 7th online with the LAN tournament taking place in September. According to an announcement by FISSURE, the tournament wants to employ more of a relaxed vibe compared to the professional high stake events that take place in arenas.
Esports betting company GG.BET has obtained licences that allow it to operate in the Ukrainian market under the name GG.BET UA.
The exact date for its launch in the market was not disclosed, but GG.BET noted that it plans to soon start offering its betting services in the country. GG.BET is one of the most-known esports betting companies in the world. The company holds licences in Curacao and the United Kingdom, through its recently-acquired UK Gambling Commission licence.
Esports tournament organiser Relog Media and online casino platform Roobet have announced the second edition of the Roobet Cup.
The event will see 16 teams competing for a share of $250,000 (~£196,707) in prize money. The tournament, set to run from October 25th – November 2nd, will feature the likes of Ninjas in Pyjamas, Astralis, FURIA and 2022 Roobet Cup champions Berlin International Gaming (BIG).
British esports organisation Endpoint Esports has announced a partnership with digital esports trading platform eNDX. The duration of the partnership was not disclosed.
The partnership will see Endpoint players added to the eNDX trading platform, allowing fans to virtually trade players for currency and support the team directly through these transactions. eNDX is a virtual trading platform focused on esports players. The platform works by partnering with esports teams and organisations and adding their players to a tradable pool.
Esports betting and entertainment company Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) has appointed Michael Villani as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Villani previously held the position on an interim basis since January of this year. Villani first joined EEG in February 2021 as its Financial Controller before moving into the Interim CFO position, as well as working as the company’s Principal Financial Officer.
Data and betting content company BETER has expanded its existing partnership with Swedish betting company Betsson Group.
The expanded agreement will see BETER provide Betsson Group with an esports odd feed and its in-house created eSportsBattle tournaments for CS:GO and Dota 2. This is alongside a number of other tournaments it was already providing. The partnership was facilitated by BETBAZAR, a platform connecting operators and creators. BETER is a developing player in the esports betting market, working with a large number of shareholders in the esports space.
