French esports organisations Team Vitality and R8G Esports have announced plans to field a roster for sim racing game Rennsport.

As a result, Team Vitality will be one of 12 teams competing during the 2024 Spring Season of ESL R1.

As part of the deal, R8G Esports’ staff and former Formula One driver Romain Grosjean will support Team Vitality’s Rennsport roster to prepare them for upcoming events. The collaboration also signifies the R8G Esports disappearing from the 12 teams invited to compete at ESL R1.

The 2024 ESL R1 Spring Season commences on May 17th and will form part of the Esports World Cup taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Team Vitality is one of 30 esports organisations that have joined the Esports World Cup Support Program, designed to provide financial capital to select teams in the esports industry.

Team Vitality will inherit one of the strongest rosters competing in ESL R1. Driver Marcell Csincsik won the 2023 Spring Series Driver’s Championship while Erhan Jajovski achieved victory in the GTE category during the 2023 Le Mans 24 Hours Virtual on the rFactor 2 platform.

The organisation’s expansion into sim racing takes its number of rosters to 12. Alongside its Rennsport roster, Team Vitality also competes in titles such as League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Rocket League, StarCraft II and EA Sports FC.

Fabien Devide, President of Team Vitality, spoke on the news: “It’s an honour to join the sim racing circuit with a high-potential team like R8G Esports.

“To be able to join a French team as part of our international development is a real coup. Together, we hope to extend this performance dynamic and continue to place Team Vitality at the top of the podiums. The ESL R1 will be a good start to this summer’s Esports World Cup!”
