German esports organisation SK Gaming has announced a new partnership with electronics company Sony.

The deal will see Sony equip SK Gaming’s new headquarters in Cologne, Germany with BRAVIA and LED TV displays.

The new headquarters officially opened on May 28th and is a 2,000-square-metre facility that comes with an expo area, event and presentation space, production and training rooms, meeting rooms and office space.

On top of the BRAVIA displays, an LED wall has been set up with professional projectors and camera technology, as well as remote-controlled cameras that will support SK Gaming when it comes to producing video and live content. According to a release, SK Gaming and Sony are looking to bring a ‘professional visualisation of virtual worlds’. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 1997, SK Gaming is a German esports organisation that competes in League of Legends, VALORANT, Clash Royale and Brawl Stars. The organisation is mainly known for its participation in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC).

Sony joins a strong portfolio of SK Gaming partners, which include telecommunication company Deutsche Telekom, car maker Mercedes-Benz, gaming hardware brand Cherry Xtrfy and fast food chain Subway, among others.

Sony has made several moves in the esports industry for years, particularly through its gaming gear brand INZONE. Earlier in March, the conglomerate signed a multi-year deal with Esports World Cup Foundation, the organisation behind the Esports World Cup, which is taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later this summer.

Alexander Müller, CEO of SK Gaming, commented: “From the very first meeting with Sony, it was clear that this would be a great and fruitful collaboration.

“Sony brings this enormously important basic understanding of professional visualisation of virtual worlds. This, coupled with its leading expertise in display technology, made it clear to us that Sony is our partner of choice.”
