Serbian esports organisation Aurora Gaming has announced that it will enter the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports by fielding a team in the MPL Philippines.
The organisation has yet to announce its new roster’s full details, but it has announced that it will base its new team in Manila, Philippines.
Aurora Gaming is most well known to esports audiences in the Balkans and CIS regions. The organisation, founded in 2022, has esports teams competing in various games and in several regions, ranging from a Russian majority CS2 team to a Dota 2 team based in Malaysia. Starting an MLBB team is the first move into mobile esports for the European organisation.
The move from Aurora Gaming comes shortly after another MLBB team in the MPL Philippines, Minana EVOS, decided to leave the league. Minana Esports shared via social media that it will continue to invest in other rosters, but will no longer participate in the MPL Philippines, thus opening up a slot for a new team.
Aurora Gaming shared the following via social media: “The latest chapter in Aurora Gaming’s expansion is the launch of our MLBB (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang) team based in Metro Manila, Philippines. We believe in the immense potential of MLBB as an esports discipline and we eagerly look forward to our roster showcasing their talents as part of Aurora’s hearth and home.”
Aurora joins the MPL Philippines at a very interesting time. The league recently saw well-known European esports organisation Fnatic join through a partnership with ONIC Esports, and Team Falcons partnered with Bren Esports for a joint venture, Falcons AP.Bren. Another well-known esports organisation, Team Liquid, also fields a roster in the league, created after Team Liquid acquired the owners of AURA Esports and ECHO.
