The Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) has announced a partnership with the Asian portion of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS Asia).

The partnership focuses on the development and promotion of esports within the region of Asia, and beyond. The collaboration commenced at the AIPS Asia Congress in Kathmandu, Nepal, with AESF Vice President Lokesh Suji and AIPS Asia President Jung Hee Don signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

As part of the collaboration between the two entities, young journalists will be provided opportunities to gain experience in covering esports events through AIPS Asia’s Young Reporters Program.

Educational programmes and workshops will also be held for journalists and esports fans who are interested in learning about esports culture, industry dynamics and the specifics of esports reporting. According to the release these programmes will also include ‘collaborative initiatives’.

During the AIPS Asia Congress, where the MoU was signed by AESF and AIPS, the AESF’s Head of Partnership and Growth Janni Jensen spoke about an ‘esports federation’s perspective’ on journalism. This included participating in a Women in Sports Journalism Forum and delivering a presentation on the development of esports in Asia.

This is not the first time that the AESF has committed to a partnership to strengthen esports in its region. Previously the federation partnered with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China Sports Information Center and the Olympic Council of Asia.

Lokesh Suji, AESF Vice President, spoke on the partnership: “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in expanding esports journalism and nurturing the next generation of esports reporters in the region.

“It will open new doors for aspiring esports journalists, providing them with hands-on experience and the expertise needed to succeed in this fast-evolving field. We are confident that our joint efforts will elevate esports coverage to new heights and create a lasting impact across Asia and beyond. We look forward to seeing the transformative results this partnership will bring.”

Any financial commitments of this partnership have not been disclosed.
