Mobile Legends creators MOONTON Games tease new esports title at Mobies

MOONTON Games, the developer of mobile MOBA title Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, has teased that it is working on creating a new esports title.

The announcement was revealed during this year’s Mobies, an awards ceremony that focuses on the mobile gaming and esports industries.

MOONTON shared the news after it won the Mobile Competitive Game of the Year Award at the 2024 ceremony on November 20th. The recipient of the award revealed the developer has some new compeittive titles in the works for 2025. Exact details on the titles were not disclosed.

Alongside winning the award and announcing its esports expansion, MOONTON released a trailer for its exclusive new charcter skin themed around the upcomming M6 World Championship. At the event MOONTON also won the Live Event of the Year award for the M5 World Championship.

In addition to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, the Shanghai-based developer has created several games for casual gaming and esports markets. Titles include Watcher of Realms, One Punch Man, and Magic Rush: Heroes.

Throughout 2024, the Mobile Legends esports ecosystem has grown significantly. In June, MOONTON expanded its existing deal with Saudi Arabian tourism megaproject Qiddiya to expand the esport across the world.

Mobile Legends’ 2024 season comes to an end with the M6 World Championship taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 13th to 15th. Ahead of the event, it received an endorsement from YB Adam Adli, the country’s Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports.

The M6 World Championship will feature 23 teams from across the world competing for a share of a $1m (~£799,725) prize pool. 2023’s M5 World Championship recorded peak viewing figures of over 5m, the highest figures ever recorded for a Mobile Legends esports match.
