Game developer MOONTON Games has revealed various details surrounding the M6 World Championship, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang‘s season-ending tournament in Malaysia, during the competition’s draw show.

During the show, which revealed the initial M6 match-ups, a ‘carnival’ event that is set to occur during the tournament was announced. Moreover, M6 also received an endorsement from the Malaysian government.

The carnival event will take place from December 13th to 15th at Kuala Lumpur’s Axiata Arena alongside the M6 Grand Final weekend, which also takes place at the venue.

The Mobile Legends carnival will feature a range of ‘family-friendly booths and activities’ for Mobile Legends fans to participate in. According to MOONTON Games entry for the carnival will be free.

Alongside revealing the carnival event, the season-ending Mobile Legends tournament received an endorsement from Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Adam Adli. The endorsement builds on the country’s MYR 20m (~£3.5m) budget to bolster the development of Malaysia’s esports industry.

In addition, MOONTON Games announced that Grand Final will begin with an orchestral performance from the Kuala Lumpur Orchestra. The performance was arranged in partnership with Kuala Lumpur City Hall and the Malaysia Digital Economy.

On November 30th in shopping and entertainment district Bukit Bintang, prominent Malaysian personalities as well as Adli will pass a burning torch to a pedestal in Lot 10 shopping centre.

Mobile Legends esports continues to grow at an impressive rate, 2023’s M5 World Championship recorded peak viewership figures of over 5m, the highest figures ever recorded for a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang match. This year, MPL Indonesia Season 14, a regional MLBB league, became the eighth most-watched esports tournament of all time.

Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Adam Adli, spoke on the impact of esports in Malaysia: “Esports has grown tremendously, both globally and here in Malaysia. Our games industry has seen an average growth of 8.9% annually since 2020, with over 50% of Malaysians now actively engaged as gamers. This robust ecosystem offers diverse career pathways, from professional athletes to team owners, content creators, and event organisers.

“A prime example is our own Soloz – once a national MLBB athlete, now the most-watched Malaysian creator and co-owner of Team Vamos, who will proudly represent Malaysia in M6.”
