Retired popular MOBA title Heroes of Newerth (HoN) has announced its return after more than two years.

The new game, called Heroes of Newerth: Reborn, has been created through a collaboration between Kongor Studios and Garena. The original game was shut down in 2022 and will now be revived as a free-to-play title, set to release on the iGames platform.

While the exact release date for Heroes of Newerth: Reborn remains unannounced, the game will debut with over 80 heroes, with additional characters planned for the future. In addition to this, existing features from HoN will be enhanced to deliver a smoother gameplay experience and improved performance with the iGames Engine.

Rumours of a Heroes of Newerth comeback started circulating after the game’s social media accounts became active at the start of 2025. Earlier this month a Reddit user highlighted HoN’s Facebook profile linked to Kongor Studios, which developed a similar community project called Project KONGOR.

“After years of community support and the dedication of a passionate fan base, we are beyond excited to bring Heroes of Newerth back to life,” said Jesse Hayes, Co-Founder of Kongor Studios and former S2 Games developer

“This isn’t just a relaunch, but a reimagining of what the game can be in today’s competitive gaming world. From the visuals to the network performance, we’ve worked hard to bring the best possible experience to both veteran players and newcomers.”

It will be interesting to see what Garena will do differently this time to make it stand out against major market rivals like League of Legends and Dota 2.

According to Jason Ng, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Garena, its partnership with Kongor Studios is precisely aimed at achieving that.

“We are excited to work with Kongor Studios to breathe new life into the franchise. This collaboration ensures that the original game’s spirit lives on while reaching a broader audience through modern improvements,” said Ng.

Heroes of Newerth: Reborn will also be the first title available on the iGames Platform. Players will be able to support the game directly via iGames Genesis Campaign, earning exclusive rewards in return.

As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
