Following its debut at the end of 2024, the Marvel Rivals Championship is back with Season 1, titled Eternal Night Falls, taking place from March 8th to April 6th.
The event features a competitive circuit divided into four regions — China, North America, Europe and Asia — across console and PC. Each of the events has a prize pool of $14,500 (~£11,600).
Registered teams will begin their journey through the Open Qualifiers in their respective regions.
Players can sign up for Marvel Rivals Championship Season 1 in-game until March 8th in one of the following divisions — China PC, North America PC, North America Console, Europe PC, Europe Console, Asia PC and Asia Console.
The first stage kicks off with the Open Qualifiers on March 8th and 9th, where teams will face each other in BO1 series. The top 128 teams will proceed to the Double-elimination stage, while others will have another shot at qualification through the Closed Qualifiers, scheduled for March 15th and 16th.
Once the top 128 teams from the Closed Qualifiers are determined, a total of 256 teams will compete in a Double-elimination bracket until a winner is crowned. Matches during this stage will follow a BO3 format until the top 16 teams are finalised, after which the format will switch to BO5.
The Grand Finals and Lower Bracket Finals will be BO7 matches. The double-elimination rounds are scheduled for March 22nd–23rd, March 29th–30th and April 5th–6th.
The Marvel Rivals Championship will likely play a crucial role in shaping the long-term esports scene for the game. Guangyun Chen, Game Director for Marvel Rivals at NetEase, discussed in an interview with Metro the importance of balancing competitive modes and tournaments with quick play.
“We’ve actually been thinking about this on a broader scale, looking at the picture as a whole. We really hope that when we do the competitive modes or tournaments, they will co-exist with our quick play,” Guangyun said.
Marvel Rivals noted that the team that lifts the trophy will receive $6,000, while the runner-up will take home $3,000.
The full prize pool distribution for each region is as follows:
- Champion: $6,000
- Runner-up: $3,000
- Third Place: $1,500
- Fourth Place: $800
- 5th to 8th Place: $400 each
