In a revenge match against EDward Gaming in the Upper Final, G2 Esports secured a dominant clean sweep, pushing EDG to the lower bracket and becoming the first team to qualify for the VALORANT Masters Bangkok Grand Final.

EDward Gaming, on the other hand, will now face the winner of T1 vs. Team Vitality in the Lower Final for one last shot at the Grand Final slot.

G2 Esports’ Road to the Bangkok Grand Final

In the G2 vs. EDG match, EDG started off strong on Lotus and Split, winning the pistol round and the one after it. However, G2 Esports quickly adapted its game plan.

The Americas representatives built comfortable leads heading into the second halves and, although EDG fought to make a comeback, the team was not able to break G2’s momentum. G2 won Lotus by 13-8 and took Split away with a 13-7 scoreline.

“We were looking to shut them down right from the beginning and get them off their normal game,” said G2 Esportscoach Josh JoshRT’ Lee.

“Once we were in that state, our boys were really good at reading the game and making live adaptations, which I enjoyed watching. This is something we are really honing in on, and as a result, we were in control the whole game.”

Meanwhile, IGL Jacob ‘valyn’ Batio added: “I think we just played with more of a pack mentality, at least at the start of the series, and we matched what they were doing.

“I don’t think KangKang [Zheng ‘ZmjjKK’ Yongkang] was able to handle that. Once you put them on the back foot, they start overthinking and don’t hit those insane shots anymore. So we just had to hit them hard and push them back a little bit.”

G2 will return to the stage on March 2nd for the Grand Final, aiming to make history as the first Ascension team to win an international VCT title in a best-of-five showdown.

The VALORANT Masters Bangkok champion will take home $250,000 (~£198,476) and five Championship Points. The series will be streamed live on the official VCT YouTube and Twitch channels.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
