G2 Esports has become the latest team to qualify for VALORANT Masters Bangkok following a 2-0 victory against Sentinels in VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff.

Yesterday’s match-up saw 2023’s Ascension champion win the Upper Bracket Final to secure a spot at VALORANT’s first international event of the year. Despite only being in VCT Americas since the beginning of 2024, this will be G2 Esports’ third international event.

As a result of yesterday’s match-up, Sentinels has dropped down to the Lower Bracket Final where the team will face MIBR later today (February 7th).

G2 Esports entered the Upper Bracket Final with consecutive 2-0 performances against Cloud9 and Leviatán. However, Sentinels looked set to be the organisation’s biggest challenge at the event so far.

Despite these expectations, it was G2 that made an emphatic start to the series, securing the first six rounds in the opening map Abyss. After a definitive 10-2 first half by G2 Esports, Sentinels faired better when the sides switched, but ultimately lost 13-7.

On Pearl, the first half of the game was a closer affair which went 7-5 in G2 Esports’ favour. Nevertheless, when G2 Esports switched to the attacking side, the organisation ramped up yet again to close out the game 13-7.

G2 Esports’ standout player of the series was Alexander ‘Jawgemo’ Mor, who recorded 36 kills and 16 assists across both maps.

MIBR topples KRÜ Esports

Also yesterday (early hours of this morning GMT), MIBR played KRÜ Esports to determine which team would remain in the competition. Ultimately, MIBR won the match 2-1 following an MVP performance from the Brazilian organisation’s star player, Erick ‘Aspas’ Santos.

After KRÜ Esports took the first game 13-8 on Bind, MIBR bounced back with 13-8 and 13-11 victories on Abyss and Split, respectively. As a result, KRÜ Esports has been eliminated from VCT Americas Kickoff, with MIBR facing Sentinals on February 7th at 10 PM GMT for the final Masters Bangkok spot.

In addition to the Lower Bracket Final, the match-up winner will face G2 Esports on February 8th at 10 PM GMT for the Americas Kickoff crown.

Outside of VCT Americas, EMEA and Pacific will also secure their representatives for Masters Bangkok this week. VCT China has already concluded its Kickoff event with Trace Esports and EDward Gaming representing the region.
