Matheus ‘Budega’ Figueiredo, the coach for M80‘s Rainbow Six Siege team, has received a two-year suspension from BLAST‘s R6 tournament circuit.
The decision follows an altercation between Budega and DarkZero Esports following M80’s match at the Six Invitational on February 9th, 2025.
Following M80’s 2-1 loss to DarkZero, the North American esports organisation’s coach confronted the winning team, likely regarding Ubisoft’s decision to award the fourth round to DarkZero after M80 allegedly broke rules following warnings from tournament staff.
Figueiredo can be heard in the background of an interview with DarkZero’s coach after the match concluded.
After investigating the matter further, BLAST announced it has issued Budega with a two-year ban from all Rainbow Six events operated by event organiser BLAST.
As a result of the ban, Budega won’t be able to participate in any BLAST R6 events until the conclusion of the 2027 Six Invitational.
In addition to the two-year suspension, the organisation has received a $10,000 (~£8,085) fine and M80’s Team Manager, Igor Vivas, received a minor misconduct penalty.
After losing to DarkZero in the upper bracket of the Six Invitational, M80 played against Japanese team CAG Osaka where the latter scored a 2-0 victory eliminating M80 from the tournament.
The ban is the first for Rainbow Six in 2025. The last time bans were issued was in November 2024 when Argentinian players Gonzalo ‘DirTy’ Acosta and Valentino ‘VJ’ Jaime received two-year suspensions after breaching betting rules.
The 2025 edition of the Six Invitational is Rainbow Six Siege’s largest tournament of the year. In total, 20 teams from around the world are competing for a chance to be crowned World Champion in addition to acquiring a lion’s share of its $3m (~£2.4m) prize pool.
