North American esports organisation Team Liquid has announced the pickup of promising jungle player Ganbat ‘Yuuji‘ Ulziidelger.
Yuuji will be joining as the sixth man on Team Liquid’s roster for the remainder of the season, sharing the role with Korean player Um ‘UmTi‘ Sung-hyeon. He signed a contract with the organisation until November 2026, according to the Global Contract Database (GCD).
Coming from the North American Challengers League, Yuuji first made a name for himself in the tier-two scene by playing in FlyQuest’s academy teams. He then went on to collegiate esports, playing for DarkZero, which partnered with Maryville University. Yuuji is currently a reigning NACL champion and has won back-to-back MVPs, the only player to have achieved this milestone.
Originally from Mongolia, Yuuji first started playing League of Legends thanks to his brother, reaching Diamond 1 on the NA server while playing with 200 pings from local PC bangs in Mongolia and then Challenger on the EUW server, according to creative producer for Liquid Media Nicholas Ray.
Despite winning the first-ever LTA Winter Split, Team Liquid was assessing players for both mid and jungle shortly after the end of First Stand, which saw them being eliminated from the playoff stage. The team considered rising prospects from the NA developmental system, and even though the team didn’t bring in Yuuji until now, the player has reportedly been splitting practice with UmTi, according to sources by Sheep Esports.
“I’m super excited to have Yuuji on the team,” said Head Coach Jake “Spawn” Tiberi in the announcement video. “I think Yuuji brings a bunch of fresh ideas and perspectives. He’s a player who is brimming with confidence. After what has been an incredibly successful last few years in the North American Challenger League, and I think that he’s going to be someone that comes in and has an immediate impact.”
The Mongolian player is capable of playing a large pool of different champions with different playstyles. He can adapt based on what is required for the team, which is an essential element to have with Fearless Draft being applied across all major competitions.
With Team Liquid currently tied first in their group and already locked for playoffs, Yuuji might have the chance to step on Summoner’s Rift in the last series of the group phase against Cloud9, taking place this Saturday.
