International esports organisation Team Spirit continues its run as one of the top teams in the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) scene with a win at PGL Astana 2025.
Team Spirit came out victorious following a 3-1 victory over Astralis in the grand final in front of a lively crowd at the Barys Arena, Kazakhstan. With the win at PGL Astana, Team Spirit took home $200,000 (~£149,634) of the $625,000 (~£467,606) prize pool.
The series saw Spirit hit match point after two strong maps on Dust2 and Nuke, with youngster Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets pulling an incredible 1v4 clutch play to put an end to the second map.
While Astralis bounced back on Mirage by taking the third map, it wasn’t enough to prevent Team Spirit from winning on Train and clinching another trophy after BLAST Bounty Spring in January. The Russian player also took his second MVP award of the year.
The final battle between Astralis and Team Spirit saw a near peak of one million viewers (920,009), according to data site Esports Charts. It heavily gapped all the other PGL Astana matches in terms of viewership, but it was still slightly lower than the 1.03m registered at the BLAST Rivals Spring 2025, which took place earlier this month.
What Next for Team Spirit?
The next PGL tournament will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, at the end of October. Team Spirit will now be taking a short break before the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 in June, while other top teams like Team Vitality and FaZe Clan are set to compete at the IEM Extreme Masters Dallas this week.
Based in Belgrade, Serbia, Team Spirit is an international esports organisation, mainly known for its endeavors in Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2. The organisation has won two The International titles in 2021 and 2023 and is the fourth-ranked team in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) as of May 2025. The team also fields rosters in Hearthstone, PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
