The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia has announced a crossover with TRON: Ares, the anticipated sci-fi action film set to release in cinemas on October 9th.

The collaboration, announced in the livestream, will feature TRON: Ares-themed offline activations at the MPL Malaysia Season 16 arena in Sri Putra Hall during Weeks three (September 26th to 28th) and four (October 3rd to 5th).

“TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated programme’s journey from the digital world into the real world, marking humankind’s first encounter with artificial intelligence beings,” said Krystal Tan, Head of Business Development for Malaysia Esports at MOONTON.

“This collision of worlds is similarly reflected in the arrival of TRON: Ares in the MPL Malaysia universe — the intersection of esports and the big screen.”

The MPL Malaysia x TRON: Ares collaboration will also extend across live broadcasts, league-owned platforms, and exclusive screenings of the film.

MOONTON said in a release that more details regarding in-game or digital activations will be announced via MPL Malaysia’s social media channels soon.

Tan added that the crossover could serve as many cinemagoers’ first encounter with esports, supporting MPL Malaysia’s plans to evolve into an ‘enhanced franchised league’ next season.

Earlier this month, MOONTON announced that the MPL Malaysia would become franchised from 2026 onwards. This makes it the third franchised MLBB esports league after the Philippines and Indonesia.

MPL Malaysia Season 16 Enters Week 3

The ongoing Season 16 of the MPL Malaysia, which is the last edition with the promotion/relegation format, is entering its third week.

After two weeks, the newly formed roster of CG Esports sits at the top of the standings with three wins, followed by Team Vamos in second place with a scoreline of 3-1.

The favourites and defending champions SRG OG is third, but the team has only played two games so far, winning both.

Therefore, the upcoming week’s most exciting clash is set to be between CG Esports and SRG OG on September 28th. The result of the match could set the tone for the rest of the season, with the experienced roster of CG Esports eyeing a surprise upset.

The top two teams from the MPL Malaysia Season 16 will qualify for the M7 World Championship.

We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
