Gaming giant Electronic Arts (EA) has revealed that it has recorded a 13% dip in net bookings in the second quarter of the FY26.

In its release, the publisher also shared that the net bookings for its esports title, Apex Legends, grew by ‘double digits.’

Net bookings are defined as the net amount of products and services sold, both digitally or physically in that period, calculated by adding total net revenue with the change to ‘deferred net revenue’ for its games.

EA reports that it saw $1.1818bn (~£886.35m) in total net bookings for the second quarter, down 13% year-over-year, which the company attributes to the launch of College Football 25 in the previous 2024/2025 financial year.

In the highlight section of the press release, it noted several successful games that contributed to the total net bookings accumulated.

It described how Apex Legends, the popular battle royale shooter, saw double-digit growth in net bookings. The result lies in contrast to a past quarterly report where EA forecasted a 40% net bookings drop for Apex Legends

The publisher’s sports franchises were also celebrated, sharing that Madden NFL 26 and FC 26 HD saw net bookings grow year-over-year. The report also mentioned the recent release of popular titles skate and Battlefield 6.

EA also announced that it will not be hosting an earnings conference call for the quarter, and will share that it will no longer provide ‘forward-looking guidance.’ The news arrives after EA announced a $55bn (~£41.2bn) acquisition by an investment consortium, where, following the transaction’s conclusion, EA’s common stock will no longer be publicly listed.

Apex Legends in 2025

News of Apex Legend’s net booking growth arrives after a strong year for the ALGS scene, as the best teams across the world prepare for the 2026 championship.

The ALGS Split 2 Pro League concluded earlier in October, where the best teams in each region competed for a place in the international crowning event next year.

According to Esports Charts, it saw a peak viewership reach as high as 64,779 during the seventh round of the finals for the Americas region.
