Film giant Paramount Pictures and gaming publisher Activision have announced the team that will be working on the Call of Duty movie.

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan will write and produce the film alongside Peter Berg, who will serve as the director, bringing the first-person shooter franchise to the big screen.

Peter Berg is an accomplished director, writer and actor best known for creating the Emmy-nominated series Friday Night Lights. He has worked on various military action films such as Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day, bringing his experience to the Call of Duty movie.

Taylor Sheridan is an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter who has worked on multiple Paramount Network series such as Yellowstone, Tulsa King and 1883. He has previously worked with Peter Berg in the past for films like Hell or High Water.

David Glasser, who also worked as an executive producer for Yellowstone, will work to produce the Call of Duty movie.

Paramount Pictures announced that it had secured a film deal with Activision back in September to create the Call of Duty movie. However, little is known about the film’s plot or whether it will adapt fan-favourite storylines like Black Ops or Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty Esports

The Call of Duty movie update arrives shortly after Activision shared its roadmap for the Call of Duty League, the game’s esports scene, and its 2026 season. Over the course of the next year, after the release of Black Ops 7, four Major tournaments will take place across North America and Europe.

The news from Paramount Pictures also arrives a week before the Call of Duty Mobile World Championship 2025 takes place, crowning its champion of the season. Running from November 7th to 9th in Katowice, Poland, the top 16 qualified teams from various regions will compete for the lion’s share of an $850,000 (~£646,000) prize pool.
