Ubisoft has officially launched Vantage Studios, a new subsidiary that will oversee the Rainbow Six, Assassin’s Creed, and Far Cry franchises.

Vantage Studios will be responsible for the development and expansion of the three franchises, building on the foundations laid by the French game developer and publisher.

Vantage Studios was unveiled in March 2025, following a €1.16bn (~£1bn) investment from Tencent for a 25% minority stake in the subsidiary.

According to a release, the creation of the studios is the ‘first step in Ubisoft’s ongoing transformation,’ which includes the creation of other subsidiaries that will be responsible for other franchises.

Vantage Studios will be led by co-CEOs Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot, who joined the subsidiary in July 2025. Derennes co-founded Ubisoft’s Montreal studio in 1997, recently serving as its Managing Director for North America, while Guillemot spent his career at Owlient, a studio acquired by Ubisoft in 2014.

“Our long-term objective with this new subsidiary is to grow these iconic brands while remaining loyal to their DNA,” said Vantage Studio’s co-CEO Christophe Derennes in a prior announcement.

“When we look at the evolution of Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry, we can see that they are no longer just games, they are universes with a host of new possibilities available to us.”

The creation of the studios also aims to give developers “more hands-on control over the games they are building”, resulting in the creation of deeper connections between the developer and players.

How Will It Impact Esports?

With greater opportunities for developers to implement the feedback of players, the launch of Vantage Studios could have a positive impact on the Rainbow Six esports scene. However, it is unclear how significant an impact this structural shift will have on the franchise’s competitive landscape. As of right now, tournament organiser BLAST runs Rainbow Six’s official esports circuit.

The next tournament taking place is BLAST R6 Major Munich 2025, taking place from November 8th to 16th. It remains to be seen if Vantage Studios will release an update to the first-person shooter title before the event.
