Team Falcons, FURIA, and Astralis have started their IEM Chengdu 2025 campaigns on a strong footing with victories in the opening group stage matches.

The opening day of the Counter-Strike 2 tournament saw all 16 teams in action, with several tournament contenders advancing to the upper bracket semifinals.

FURIA Sweeps Lynn Vision

FURIA’s strong run of form in 2025 continued in its opening match against Lynn Vision Gaming with some excellent attacking strategy on show. A 13-8 win on Dust II followed by a dominant 13-2 scoreline on Overpass saw the Brazilian organisation advance to the upper bracket semifinals, where G2 Esports await.

For the hometown team of Lynn Vision Gaming, its IEM Chengdu 2025 run doesn’t stop yet. The Chinese team faces off against 3DMAX in the lower bracket quarterfinals of Group B, with the loser being among the first wave of teams eliminated.

Team Falcons Bests TYLOO

Team Falcons continues to demonstrate solid teamwork, with a clinical 2-0 sweep of TYLOO in its opening match. Despite the Chinese side keeping it close in the first half of Inferno, the defensive prowess of Team Falcons shone through, taking the opening map 13-8.

Ancient was a one-sided contest, with Falcons emerging victorious with a 13-3 scoreline to set up a blockbuster clash against Team Spirit in the Group A upper bracket semifinal. Team Spirit also opened its campaign with victory, scoring a 2-0 win over paiN Gaming.

Astralis Outlasts NAVI

After competing at PGL Masters Bucharest 2025 with a temporary stand-in, Astralis was back at full strength for its match against NAVI, another team that has struggled to find consistency in recent months.

Astralis began proceedings with a 16-13 victory on Nuke before NAVI answered back on its pick of Mirage with a 13-10 scoreline to send the series to a deciding Inferno. After 24 rounds, it was all square, forcing another overtime.

The Danes held strong in overtime, winning four rounds to secure the map 16-12 and a 2-1 series, sending NAVI to the lower bracket. Astralis takes on The MongolZ in its semi-final match after the Mongolian side defeated HEROIC in its opening match.
