Esports organisation Team Spirit has announced that it is opening its first academy roster for Dota 2.

The team will be coached by Danil ‘MeTTpuM‘ Gilev, managed by Semyon ‘Paradise‘ Volkov, and Bakuri ‘baki_1014‘ Mortshulava will serve as the team’s analyst.

In a statement, Team Spirit wrote: “Team Spirit Academy has added another esports discipline to its pool. Dota 2 joins existing CS2 and ML:BB projects. For us the decision was just a matter of time, as the history of Team Spirit started with the establishment of our Dota roster.”

This is the first Dota 2 academy roster representing TS:

  • Vladislav ‘rubikon155‘ Gaideu
  • Arsentii ‘86‘ Babiuk
  • Rusline ‘SunshineRR‘ Lakhonia
  • Aidar ‘Aidar‘ Nurgalin
  • Danil ‘Kyford‘ Gorbachev

In the past, Team Spirit’s winning roster for The International 10 back in 2021 was formed from a similar project. However, only time will tell how the organisation’s latest academy roster will fare, or whether it will see the same level of success.

Team Spirit in 2025

Team Spirit has always been a stand out team in the Dota 2 scene, but the main roster has seen varying levels of success in the 2025 season.

The biggest highlights include winning DreamLeague Season 25 back in March, where it defeated Tundra Esports 3-2 in the Grand Finals and secured $250,000 (~£190,200) in winnings. This was then followed by a standout victory during the Esports World Cup’s Dota 2 tournament, winning 3-0 against Team Falcons and securing $1m (~£760,800).

TS was also invited to The International 2025, but saw a disappointing result after an early elimination. It fought it’s way to the Elimination Round of the Group Stage, where it lost 2-0 to Team Falcons.

The main roster recently competed in FISSURE Playground 2, placing fifth out of 16 teams after losing to Team Falcons 1-2 in the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals.
