Team Spirit has claimed victory in DreamLeague Season 25, the first win for the organisation in the 2025 Dota 2 season.
The event saw teams from across Europe, the Americas and Asia compete for ESL Pro Tour points and a $1m (~£778,850) prize pool.
Team Spirit’s Road to Victory
The Team Spirit DreamLeague campaign began in fine form. The team topped Group B, having conceded just two maps, ultimately scoring a win-to-loss record of 5-2-0. The Russian esports organisation was the only unbeaten team of the Group Stage.
Team Spirit’s run to the final continued with a third-place finish in the second stage of the group phase, securing a place in the semi-finals of the lower bracket.
A 2-1 victory over Chimera Esports in the semi-final was followed by a 2-0 sweep of PARIVISION to book the team’s place in the DreamLeague Season 25 against The International 2022 winners Tundra Esports.
The DreamLeague Season 25 Grand Final was thrown into chaos, with Team Spirit leading 2-1. During the fourth map, the organisation claimed its players were victims of a DDoS attack, with Magomed ‘Collapse‘ Khalilov and Denis ‘Larl‘ Sigitov encountering issues 18 minutes into the match.
In an X post, the organisation stated a ‘vulnerability inside Steam / Dota 2’ was to blame for the DDoS attack.
Due to the delay, the remainder of the series took place on March 4th, 2025, with Team Spirit emerging victorious with a 3-2 win.
Team Spirit took home a total of $290,000 (~£225,941) in prize money along with 4,620 ESL Pro Tour points, cementing its second-place position.
DreamLeague Season 25 was another successful event for the tournament organiser. The online Dota 2 tournament saw peak viewing figures of 416,166, according to Esports Charts.
Notably, Team Spirit features in all five of the most-watched matches of the tournament, which was topped by its Playoff match against Tundra Esports on the second day of competition.
