North American organisation 100 Thieves has partnered with Japanese organisation Crazy Raccoon for the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Year 5 Championship.
The team, comprised of 100 Thieves’ players, will compete as Crazy Thieves at the crowning event in Sapporo, Japan, beginning its run in the Group Stage on January 29th, 2026.
The trio representing Crazy Thieves includes Noyan ‘Genburten‘ Ozkose, Josue ‘Phony‘ Ruiz, and 2023 world champion Evan ‘Verhulst‘ Verhulst. 100 Thieves qualified for the championship by placing among the top teams in both splits of the Americas Pro League this season.
On the other hand, Crazy Raccoon did not record the same level of success. Back in August 2025, Crazy Raccoon parted ways with its Apex Legends roster following Han ‘SangJoon‘ Sang-joon’s retirement.
In 2025, Crazy Raccoon placed 27th in the 2025 Championship to end Year 4. It began Year 5 by placing 105th in the 2025 Open, and last competed in the Midseason Playoffs, ending 32nd overall out of 40 teams.
What to Expect from the ALGS Championship
Crazy Thieves will play against 40 other teams, comprised of past champions and regional winners, from January 15th to 18th, 2026. At the time of writing, all 40 qualified teams have been decided, with groups set for the first stage of the crowning event.
The tournament marks the end of ALGS Year 5, a competitive season defined by major format changes, as teams compete for the lion’s share of a $2m (~£1.48m) prize pool.
Beginning with the Group Stage, teams will be divided into four groups of 10 to compete in a single six-match series against the other group. The performance decides the seedings for the Bracket Stage, where the top 20 teams (10 each) will advance to the Finals.
The last stage of the tournament will shift to a match-point format series, which requires a team to secure a battle-royale victory after reaching the 50-point threshold.
