Esports tournament organiser FISSURE has announced the cancellation of its Counter-Strike 2 event, FISSURE Playground 3.

The tournament organiser reveals that ‘a logistical conflict in the competitive calendar’ played a role in cancelling the event scheduled for April 20th to 26th.

Announced on March 3rd, the decision to cancel the event coincides with the launch of March’s Valve Regional Standings (VRS). This would’ve decided the invites to FISSURE Playground 3, which was planned to take place in Shenzhen, China.

In addition to cancelling FISSURE Playground 3, the tournament organiser also announced plans to scrap FISSURE Playground 4 and FISSURE Playground 7, set to take place in July 2026 and 2027, respectively.

“Due to overlap with another major tournament in South America, players would not be able to reach Shenzhen in time for the start of our event,” revealed FISSURE on social media. “Our experience hosting FISSURE Playground 1 showed that tournaments held during the players’ break do not deliver the competition and spectacle that we are committed to providing our audience. We thank the teams, partners, and community for your continued support and interest in FISSURE events. Work on future CS tournaments continues.”

FISSURE’s next event is set to take place in September in Shenzhen. However, the tournament could run into similar problems as FISSURE Playground 3, as it begins 24 hours after the conclusion of BLAST Open Fall 2026, taking place in Europe.

FISSURE’s Commitment To Counter-Strike

Despite FISSURE’s cancellation of three events, the tournament organiser has reaffirmed its commitment to hosting its other events taking place throughout 2026 and 2027. The tournament organiser says further details on the upcoming events will be shared in ‘upcoming announcements’.

With a $450,000 (~£262,928) prize pool up for grabs and a tight turnaround with a European tournament, it will be interesting to see if FISSURE Playground 4 can attract the world’s best teams to what has become the company’s only event of 2026.
