South Korean video game holding company KRAFTON has announced details for the PUBG Nations Cup 2022, a global competition featuring 16 national PUBG teams to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from June 16th to June 19th.
This is the first edition of the tournament following a two-year hiatus. It is also the first PUBG competition to host a live audience since the PUBG Global Championship in November 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PNC 2022 will feature a $500,000 (~£397,000) prize pool and includes national PUBG teams from the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia, Korea, China, Japan, Chinese Taipei, United Kingdom, Finland, Germany and Turkey.
KRAFTON is distributing tickets for free at the TRUE ICON hall, inside the ICONSIAM mall in Bangkok. The TRUE ICON hall will host the tournament. The event will hold 1,200 spectators, with the capacity filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
From the initial prize pool, the first place for PNC 2022 will take home $100,000 (~£79,300), while $58,000 (~£46,000) and $50,000 (~£39,600) are reserved for second and third place, respectively.

While the $500,000 prize pool still remains below PUBG Mobile’s $600,000 (~£476,000) latest global tournament, PNC 2022’s reward can be increased through the sale of in-game products. KRAFTON has revealed it will use 30 percent of the in-game products’ revenue for the competition’s prize pool.
The PNC 2022 will be cast on Twitch, Facebook and YouTube through PUBG’s official channels.
Esports Insider says: It is relieving to see events returning with live audiences and it is interesting to see an esports competition featuring national teams, as it is not usual in the scene. Seeing the best of each country, battling for a very relevant prize pool, might get the attention of a big audience on online channels. However, it is intriguing to see KRAFTON distribute tickets for free, for a global tournament, in a venue that accommodates only 1,200 people.
