GamingMalta, a Maltese non-profit organisation focused on popularising gaming and esports in the country, has partnered with CS:GO esports series Champion of Champions Tour (CCT).
As a result of the partnership, Malta will host the first Studio Finals of the CCT Central Europe series. Taking place in February 2023, the Finals will be the first LAN stage of the Tour and will feature the three best-placed CCT teams from Central Europe as well as invited contenders.
Maltese esports production company Eden Esports will be tasked with producing the Studio Finals in 2023. Moreover, the prize pool for the finals will be $100,000 (~£87,700). The event will be one of the first LAN events for the CCT in general. The winners of the regional tournament will advance further in the Tour.
Eden Esports, the Maltese esports company producing the event, is also one of the founders of the CCT, along with FACEIT, Relog Media, Gjirafa, GRID Esports and other esports companies. The Tour aims to be one of the largest CS:GO tournaments in the world, with its overall prize pool amounting to $3.4m (~£2.98m).
The tournament will take place across multiple tiers, and is aimed at developing talent and providing a way for players to reach the upper echelons of the game.
The CCT regional finals announcement comes just after Malta renewed its partnership with ESL Gaming for the ESL Pro League, one of the longest-lasting CS:GO tournaments in the world.
